Public Private Partnerships and the Financial Sustainability of the Mediterranean Water Sector |EU-UfM

This publication brings together the discussions and conclusions  of the  first UfM Annual Conference on Water Investment and Financing took place in Rome (Italy) on 5th December 2019. It was organized by the UfM Secretariat in partnership with International Political Studies (ISPI) and Global Water Partnership (GWP-Med) and with the financial support from Sweden. The Conference took place within the framework of the Mediterranean Dialogues and in addition to the High-Level discussion,  the UfM conference covered the following topics: 

  • implementation of the UfM Financial Strategy for Water
  • engaging private financiers and operators in enhancing the financial sustainability of  the water sector
  • developing public-private partnerships in the water sector for the Mediterranean region 

The Conference confirmed that promoting the financial sustainability of the water sector is key to achieve national and regional development goals.  People needs to also be placed at the center of future efforts by UfM member states and partners.
