With the aim of enhancing the sustainable management of water resources and agriculture in Colombia, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in collaboration with the Institute for Water Education (IHE) Delft organized a significant national workshop on the utilization of WaPOR data. The event, held from March 13th to 15th in Bogotá, aimed to harness the potential of remote sensing technology for water productivity assessment and agricultural monitoring.

WaPOR (Water Productivity through Open access of Remotely sensed derived data) is a groundbreaking initiative by FAO providing open-access data on water productivity. Leveraging satellite imagery and advanced algorithms, WaPOR offers valuable insights into water use in agriculture, facilitating informed decision-making for policymakers, researchers, and farmers.

The workshop gathered experts, stakeholders, and government officials involved in water resource management and agriculture from across Colombia. The participants engaged in discussions, presentations, and practical exercises focused on utilizing WaPOR data to address water-related challenges and optimize agricultural practices.

Throughout the workshop, participants delved into various topics, including remote sensing applications, data interpretation techniques, and practical case studies demonstrating the use of WaPOR in different contexts. Workshops and hands-on sessions enabled attendees to familiarize themselves with WaPOR's functionalities and explore its potential applications in Colombia's diverse geographical and agricultural landscapes.
