FAO RNE-Water Scarcity Team selected for FAO Team Award 2022 Winner!

In recognition of its remarkable effort in serving the Water and Agriculture Sector in the MENA Region and beyond, FAO Regional Office for Near East and North Africa (RNE) "Water Scarcity Initiative Team" has been selected to receive the One FAO Team Award 2022!

The Water Scarcity Initiative team supports the implementation of the Regional Water Scarcity Initiative.  (WSI) across member countries by identifying key priority areas of action in agriculture water management that can significantly improve food security, increase agricultural productivity, and sustain water resources.

A hybrid event hosted by the FAO-Director General QU Dongyu was held on Thursday, December 15, 2022, to recognize all the award recipients. The winners were selected via a staff-wide online poll from more than 500 nominations in two categories, “Young” and “Young at heart”.

This year, More than 100 nationalities were represented by the 2022 awardees, who work at 95 duty stations around the world. Some 49 percent the winners hold staff contracts, while the rest are part of the affiliate work force. Less than a third work in FAO’s Rome headquarters. And a majority (almost 66 percent) are female.
