Towards Water Security for the Arab Region

The Arab Ministerial Council of the League of Arab States has scheduled a meeting with development partners and regional stakeholders on August 8, 2023, to discuss the most recent developments in the Arab Water Security Strategy Action Plan! Several representatives from NGOs, UN agencies, and international development partners attended the meeting, including RAED, Arab Water Council, UNESCWA, FAO, and UNESCO. 

During the meeting, a brief presentation was given on the current stages of development of the Arab Water Security Strategy Action Plan to meet the challenges and future requirements of sustainable development in the Arab region.

Additionally, a general draft outline of the new action plan was presented and discussed and proposed roles and responsibilities of lead implementing partners were also negotiated. The updated Action plan is expected to be released before the end of the year following the official endorsement by the Arab Water Ministerial Council which is expected to take place in November.
