With ICBA and Rothamsted Research, FAO Water Scarcity Initiative Team Explores the Nexus between Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) with Agriculture under Climate Change, In the Run-up to COP28!

In preparation for COP28, FAO Water Scarcity Initiative (WSI) Team attended a two-day workshop on the "Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) Nexus with Agriculture under Climate Change" on March 13th and 14th, 2023, at ICBA's headquarters in Dubai, UAE. The workshop was organized by the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) in collaboration with Rothamsted Research and was funded by the FCDO Gulf Strategic Fund as part of the Gulf Sustainable Agri-tech Discovery project. (GSAD). 

The workshop aimed to bring together various stakeholders from government, development partners, research, academia, and industry to reach a consensus on the need for applied and fundamental research to develop solutions for sustainable agriculture. In this context, the FAO WSI team presented the Water Scarcity Initiative and discussed various climate-smart agricultural practices such as water productivity, ET monitoring, and water accounting tools that can aid in the environmental sustainability of agri-tech systems as well as the resilience of agri-food systems in the face of climate change.
