SMALL RUMINANT POPULATION (goat-sheep): 4.118.917 - 5.639.551

EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SITUATION FIRST/LAST OUTBREAK: PPRV officially found in a sheep farm in 2012. Between 2013 and 2017, at least 35 outbreaks were reported every year. Epidemiological surveillance consists in passive and active surveillance and rapid response for any notification with sampling and movement control.

CONTROL ACTIVITIES: Ring vaccination in area of 2 km around the suspected outbreak. Since 2017, PPR control is based on massive vaccination during 3 years followed by vaccination of newly born lambs during 2 years.
