EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SITUATION FIRST/LAST OUTBREAK: First outbreak has been registered in 2006 in Oropoi, Turkana district later spread to neighboring districts mainly due to migration of livestock because of drought and illegal trade. Currently the disease is endemic in most of the counties.
CONTROL ACTIVITIES: Vaccination campaign is in action. National Strategic Plan draft has been prepared based on PPR GCES and the country has self-assessed itself at Stage 2 while some of activities of stage 1 are remaining behind.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Small ruminant livestock system is mainly based on domestic pastoral/agro-pastoral.
