Unasylva - Started in 1947 by MARCEL LELOUP, first Director of the Forestry and Forest Products Division, this quarterly publication is intended to cover a range of interests as wide as that of the Division whose work it mirrors. Signed articles express the opinions of the authors and do not necessarily represent the views of the Organization.

Cover photograph. The 100,000-ton capacity Usutu Pulp Mill in Swaziland, Africa, with plantations of Pinus patula in the background. This modern mill based on man made forests is a venture which exemplifies much of what is said later in this issue. The Swazi nation this year became share-holders in the company, owned jointly by the Commonwealth Development Corporation and Courtaulds, which established the mill. Commercial operation started in April 1962 and the quality of the pulp is being raised to the level of high-grade Scandinavian pulp.
