2. Thereafter, at the end of each calender year “Annual change” is recorded based on the facts during the past one year.

Note 1. At the beginning of every calender year this list is newly prepared. All names of fishing households who engage in own fishing are listed, excluding fishing labour households.
2. Quartery survey on number of fishing units by type of gear is made by contacting the representative of each fishing gear as soon as respective quarter is over.
3. Number of fishing units throughout a year, i.e. (8.1) – (8.8), is recorded for every household by referring to the maximum number of fishing units of any quarter. However, as the number of fishing units with powered boat are counted based on Form SL-1, recording of these fishing units is excluded.

Note

  1. This form is used for fishing companies for which L-1 survey is applied and all fish auction market regardless of whether L-II or L-III survey is applied.

  2. This form is prepared on monthly basis for each type of fishing gear separately.

  3. Catch in quantity reported by fish auction market for which L-II survey is applied is used as base of ratio estimation.

  4. Catch in quantity and the number of trips which are reported by other fish auction markets are used to estimate average catch per trip for L-III Survey.

  1. This form is used for counting the number of boat arrivals on sample day and for the selection of sample trip.

  2. The number of boat arrivals is recorded for each type of gear, and a sample boat is selected at an interval as instructed by Provincial Fishery Service.

  3. For a sample boat a round mark is given to a serial no.

Instruction for 1

  1. All figures for 1.1, 1.2 & 1.3 are obtained by counting the number of SL-1 by categories or sizes.

  2. However, when a fishing establishment runs two boats or more, the number of fishing households is counted by grouping such boats.

Instruction for 2

  1. At first, all figures in SL-2 are transfered into 2.1, and total (A) is obtained.

  2. Then, R is obtained based on Form KL.

  3. Estimates throughout a District is obtained as a product of (A) and R.

  4. Finally, in 2.2 the number of fishing units by type of gear and by size of boat is estimated by allocating the no. of fishing unit taking into account % proportion of size of boat in use for each gear.
