TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR SENIOR AQUACULTURE ADVISOR

In close collaboration with National Project Coordinator, the S.A.A. will have:

  1. to undertake the supervision of the construction works, in particular:

  2. To check and follow-up the equipment order and supply procedures, in particular:

  3. To prepare the detailed programmes for international fellowships and study tours of Turkish Counterpart staff and fishermen.

  4. To prepare the detailed programmes of F.A.O. experts' missions and in-service training and seminars to be provided for the benefit of Turkish Counterpart staff and fishermen.

  5. To prepare the work plan and programme of A.P.O.s and supervise their work and report preparation.

  6. To advise on the day-to-day management of the farm, organizing and instructing the farm personnel in carrying out the various process steps involved in the daily prooduction operation and control.

  7. To advise on the lagoon management and to supervise the monitoring programme on the lagoon.

  8. To prepare yearly performance and evaluation reports and final draft reports on completion of the project.

A 4.6 ASSOCIATE PROFESSIONAL OFFICERS: QUALIFICATIONS AND PROGRAMME

  1. Hatchery/fry rearing

    Main qualifications

    University degree and some training and experience (1–2 year) in fish reproduction preferred. Flexibility in fields of work essential. English speaking necessary.

    Summary of programme

    Two years on project site on hatchery operation and fry rearing (9 months/year). Two months/year on data treatment and report writing.

  2. Fry collection/on-growing

    Main qualifications

    University degree preferred and training and experience (1–2 year) in fish fry collection and on-growing techniques. Flexibility in fields of work essential. English speaking necessary.

    Summary of programme

    Two years on project site on fish fry collection (3 months/year) and on-growing activities (6 months/year). Two months/year on data treatment and report writing.

  3. Economics/marketing

    Main qualifications

    University degree and training and experience (1–2 year) in economics and marketing (possibly in the field of fish products). Flexibility in fields of work essential. English speaking and pratical experience in software and use of computer for data treatment necessary.

    Summary of programme

    Two years on project site for investigations on market potential and economic evalution of the farm activity (timing to be flexible and depending on progress of the work).
