الاختصاصات:	(أ) تحديد مشكلات الإقليم واحتياجاته فيما يتعلق بمواصفات الأغذية ومراقبتها؛ (ب) الترويج في إطار اتصالات اللجنة للتبادل المشترك للمعلومات بشأن المبادرات التنظيمية المقترحة والمشكلات الناجمة عن مراقبة الأغذية والعمل على تعزيز البنى الأساسية لمراقبتها؛ (ج) تقديم توصيات إلى الهيئة بشأن وضع مواصفات دولية للمنتجات ذات الأهمية بالنسبة للإقليم بما في ذلك التي ترى اللجنة إمكانية رواجها في الأسواق الدولية مستقبلا؛ (د) وضع مواصفات إقليمية للمنتجات الغذائية التي ينحصر أو يكاد ينحصر تداولها في التجارة داخل الإقليم؛ (هـ) توجيه الانتباه نحو جوانب عمل الهيئة ذات الأهمية الخاصة بالنسبة للإقليم؛ (و) تشجيع تنسيق كافة جهود المواصفات الغذائية الإقليمية التي تضطلع بها المنظمات الحكومية الدولية والمنظمات غير الحكومية في الإقليم؛ (ز) ممارسة دور التنسيق العام على مستوى الإقليم، إلى جانب الوظائف الأخرى التي توكلها إليها الهيئة؛ (ح) تشجيع الأعضاء على استخدام مواصفات الدستور الغذائي والنصوص ذات الصلة.
