To foster the collection of better information on research activities in aquaculture, its interpretation and sharing among agencies interested in supporting and carrying out aquaculture research and development. A special effort should be made to include the private sector.
To analyse trends in aquaculture development, review the needs for research, and recommend, as appropriate, such research initiatives which seem most appropriate and efficient to meet the needs identified.
