ABSTRACT

This document is the final formal report of the Third Session of the Sub-Committee for the Protection and Development of the Fisheries in the Sahelian Zone of the Committee for Inland Fisheries of Africa (CIFA). Major topics discussed were: the status of the inland fisheries of the Sahelian zone; evolution of the fisheries of Lake Chad 1980–85; future priorities and plans for the development and management of the fisheries, and progress reports on the implementation of the Strategy and Programmes of Action of the FAO World Conference on Fisheries Management and Development. The main decisions, directives and recommendations are listed in Appendix D.

RESUME

Le présent document est le rapport définitif de la troisième session du Sous-Comité pour la protection et le développement des pêches dans la zone sahélienne du Comité des pêches continentales pour l'Afrique (CPCA). Les principales questions examinées sont les suivants: situation des pêches continentales dans la zone sahélienne; évolution des pêcheries du Lac Tchad de 1980 à 1985; priorités futures et plans de développement et d'aménagement des pêches; et mise en oeuvre de la Stratégie et des Programmes d'action de la Conférence mondiale de la FAO sur l'aménagement et le développement des pêches. Les principales décisions, directives et recommandations figurent à l'Annexe D.
