I am working on:

Aquatic emerging pollutants and health risk assessment. Climate change and Ocean acidification impacts on plastic pollution.

Throughout my tenure at the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (NIOF), I have made significant contributions to the field of aquatic biology and environmental science. My research is dedicated to advancing food security and sustainable aquaculture practices through in-depth studies of aquatic biology and environmental science. My work focuses on the physiological and biochemical responses of fish to environmental stressors to assess ecosystem health. I have led critical studies on the impact of pollutants, such as heavy metals and microplastics, on freshwater species, and explored innovative solutions to mitigate the risk of these pollutants.  Additionally, my involvement in health risk assessments and environmental assessment projects, including evaluations of the Egyptian freshwater ecosystems, underscores my commitment to sustainable fisheries management and the safety of aquatic food sources. Through mentoring students, participating in international conferences, and reviewing scientific articles, I actively contribute to the global dialogue on food security and nutrition, striving to promote sustainable practices that ensure the health and productivity of aquatic ecosystems and mitigate health risks associated with environmental pollutants.
