I am working on:

Working with smallholder and household farmers in Southern Africa. Themes: food product development, value chain, agrifood systems, food security, social justice and livelihoods.

Food and Bioresources Systems Technologist with over 18 years of practice in food and agriculture, in private and public sectors locally in Zambia, regionally and internationally. Postdoctorate research on integrating climate resilient technologies into agriculture supply chain. PhD in Bioresources Systems focused on developing interaction models between crop production factors (germplasm variety) and rheological, physicochemical and culinary properties of starches. Graduate of Postharvest and Food Preservation Engineering from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium). Graduate of Food Technology from Universiteit Gent (Belgium). Research has been published in peer reviewed international journals. Has worked for International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA): Feed the Future USAID and Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) Programs. In-country lead for the five–year food security project in Zambia funded by German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. Has developed community nutrition intervention projects leading to Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund and Kellogg Foundation to finance food security and nutrition project for the first time in South Africa. Lead technologist for product and technology development and installation of the first UHT soymilk processing plant in Zambia funded by Development Bank of Zambia. Has served as expert on policy for G7 countries and partners (G7 Presidency meeting) on development and economic prosperity. Post-graduate career experience in food extractive industries, and processing of protein meals for human and livestock feed industry. Analytical skills in scientific data processing. Certified Project Management for Development by Inter-American Development Bank. Certified Professional Natural Scientist (Pr.Sci.Nat.). Member of Soy Nutrition Institute (SNI) Global Scientific Advisory Committee – Sub-Saharan Africa.
