Scaling up livestock climate actions to increase climate resilience and reduce methane emissions in Africa in the context of the Global Methane Pledge

Climate-smart livestock strategies offer a pathway to achieving food security and delivering climate change mitigation and adaptation solutions. This regional workshop aims to support countries in Eastern and Southern Africa in scaling up climate action by identifying opportunities to address methane emissions from regional livestock systems in the context of the Global Methane Pledge. The specific objectives of the workshop are to:

  • Share experiences in integrating livestock into national climate actions;
  • Discuss challenges and opportunities to implement methane mitigation interventions in livestock systems;
  • Raise awareness and provide information on methane emissions and mitigation options from livestock systems; and
  • Facilitate regional collaboration and identify pathways for scaling up livestock climate actions.
