FAO IMI-SDG6 team supports countries to collect, analyse and report target 6.4 data as well as policy- and decision-makers to use this data for better informed projects and policies.

From guides to help calculate the indicators to engaging online trainings and their recording in various languages, IMI-SDG6 team at FAO works to empower countries in a variety of ways to accelerate the achievement of SDG 6.

The developed materials under “Capacity support” and “Methodological development” are free of charge, aimed mainly at, but not limited to:

  • Water monitoring or water management professional working in a Ministry, government agency or relevant technical institution involved in the water resources monitoring process in the context of the SDGs.
  • Environmental statistics professional working in the National Statistical Office or in a technical or scientific institution relevant to the monitoring of water resources and the evaluation of the respective indicators in the SDG framework.
  • Other professionals such as researchers and students of water sector.
Guidelines

FAO has developed materials available in various languages and free of charge to calculate and monitor indicator 6.4.1 and 6.4.2 for global reporting. They provide a detailed explanation of the calculation process for calculation by countries willing to generate a more accurate estimation using their national data.

E-learning

The online trainings are available in different languages to learn about the indicators and their calculation for SDG reporting. The materials are free of charge and certificates of completion are available for those who finish the course.

Publications

Check all the IMI-SDG6 publications ranging from indicators progress reports and methodology documents to case studies and reports. 


Through the years, FAO IMI-SDG6 team has trained hundreds of professionals and developed tens of publications to accelerate the achievement of SDG 6.
