Agrifood policy reform

UF141ME

Over a decade of policy support and +30 agrifood reforms...so far!

Since it began in 2010, the MAFAP programme has supported governments in Africa and South Asia with over 30 agrifood systems reforms including agricultural commodity pricing, public investment, trade and marketing, food and nutrition, regulatory affairs, and sectorial strategies.

How do we support governments with agrifood reforms?

When policymakers turn to MAFAP for policy support, the team's economists and policy analysts work with them to discuss the problem at large concerning a value chain, the agricultural sector or a broader policy issue. They then focus on one or several areas to undertake policy analysis, in agreement with collaborating country partners.

Once the collaboration is formalised, the team gets to work on the data collection and analysis. They then engage with relevant country stakeholders for policy dialogue and to drive the reform forward.
