Ecuador

In Ecuador, the JP GTA is working to reduce the gender gap and the specific barriers rural women face in family farming and across the value chain, enhancing their economic autonomy, control over resources and decision-making.

It is doing so by understanding and challenging constraining gender norms, strengthening rural women’s productive capacities; access to economic and technical resources, services and markets; and decision-making positions in local organizations.

FAOIFAD and WFP are collaborating with a range of stakeholders in Ecuador: national and local government institutions, farmers' organizations and service providers, and households and communities in Imbabura and Manabí provinces.
