FAO Liaison Office with the Russian Federation

FAO and Russian Federation

The Russian Federation became a member of FAO in 2006. Since then, the relations between FAO and Russia have been centred around a wide range of development initiatives. The FAO Liaison Office in Moscow, opened in 2016, has been raising greater awareness of FAO mandate and mission as well as information and expertise in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, food and nutrition security and rural development among wide scope of Russian partners.

FAO appreciates the dynamics of the Russian agricultural sector development. Thanks to the attraction of public and private investment to the industry, attention to talent development, leading positions regarding a number of export goods, and expanding cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), FAO sees Russia as a donor to FAO technical assistance programmes for developing countries.
