Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) invites young readers (5 – 19 ages) to start the new school year by getting ready to discuss the challenges, to which the world’s youth will try to offer solutions at World Food Forum in Rome scheduled from 17 to 21 October.

We are all connected to each other! From our food products to our culture, environment and economy – in today’s globalized world, everything is interconnected! The paradigm of sustainable development is to meet people’s needs while conserving Mother Earth’s resources, peace, justice, and security – by working hard, everyone can pave her / his own way.

FAO is a knowledge Organization. Weare fully aware that, in a few years, today’s pupils and young people will make up that majority that will decide the fate of the planet and humanity and we want to empower you with essential information and knowledge related to our sector of responsibility. It covers agriculture, fishery and forestry, nutrition and health issues, biodiversity and the climate agenda, gender equality and rural development, as well as innovation and modern technologies.

To this end, we have prepared educational teaching materials that can be used in classroom at schools, colleges, in extracurricular activities, under teachers’ guidance and/or on your own.

Here are four examples of activities where you can contribute to creating a better future:

1)   ACTIVITY BOOK FOR CHILDREN (AGES 8-12 *)

Imagine a world that leaves no one behind…

Become a food hero! Find out how to help create a better, more sustainable future for all and take action to make our agrifood system more sustainable.

Global challenges need global solutions! FAO is running a poster contest for children and teenagers aged from 5 to 19.  It consists in drawing the world on a poster where no one is left behind and everyone has access to healthy and affordable food.

We all can learn how to contribute to global solutions to create a sustainable future where everyone matters.
