During the meeting held in Ankara, on the 7th March, final lists were agreed upon for equipment to be imported and purchased by UNDP/FAO and by G.O.T./Ministry of Agriculture. As the Ministry of Agriculture has found a way of importing this equipment without having to support import taxes and V.A.T.; a cost sharing agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture and UNDP is no longer necessary. The equipment and specification lists take into account the current implementation plan for the establishment of the hatchery at only 50% capacity (see Appendixes 5 and 6). Further specifications will be prepared should a budget be made available for the full implementation of the hatchery (100% production capacity).
Ordering procedures for the following equipment have been set in motion (see specifications in Appendix 10) to be purchased by FAO as part of the UNDP contribution to the project:
one computer (already purchased)
two U.V. sterilization units for the phyto-zooplancton and larval rearing units
three submersible electric pumps for the flow-through system of the weaning unit
two submersible electric pumps for water supply to the phyto-zooplancton and spawning units; and for make-up water of the larval rearing recycling system
three vertical plastic pumps for the larval rearing recycling system
two diatom filters for mechanical filtration of the water supplied to the phyto-zooplancton and larval rearing units
Specifications and supplier lists (see Appendix 11) have been given to the Ministry of Agriculture in order that ordering procedures may be started for the main equipment to be purchased by the Government of Turkey in 1989; in accordance with the needs of the proposed work plan. The following equipment is required:
one electric generator; offers for which have already been taken by the Consultants and passed on to both FAO; Ankara and the Ministry of Agriculture
one gravel filter for mechanical filtration of the water supplied to the phyto-zooplancton; larval rearing and spawning units
four air-blowers for the entire air supply to the hatchery units which could; most likely; also be purchased in Turkey
two tank vacuum cleaners for the cleaning of the weaning tanks
fifteen reticulated polyurethane foam pieces for the assembly of the biofilter in the larval rearing system
special equipment to be imported for the electric and heating systems of the hatchery (lists have been prepared by Turkish engineers)
some PVC fittings which are not available in Turkey (list under preparation by the Turkish engineers)
some laboratory and miscellaneous equipment for the hatchery (detailed lists will be prepared by the Senior Advisor and project Coordinator during the construction of the hatchery).
