Panel Discussion and one-day Symposium
Santiago, Chile, 4-6 November 2009
In conjunction with the joint meeting of the Intergovernmental Groups (IGGs) on Oilseeds, Oils, and Fats (30th Session), on Grains (32nd Session) and on Rice (43rd Session), an informal panel discussion is planned for Thursday morning, 5 November. The panel discussion brings together leading experts to discuss two distinctive topics (i) the role of financial and energy sectors in recent hikes and successive falls of food prices and (ii) coping with climate change. In addition, hosted by the Government of Chile, a one-day symposium, titled Value Chains for Oilseeds, Oils and Fats, Grains and Rice: Status and Outlook will take place on Friday 6 November. The panel discussion and the symposium are open to the public, free of charge, but require prior registration. FAO-member countries participating in the intergovernmental group meeting are expected to attend these events.
The full programme, list of speakers, registration form and the venue will shortly be available at the following web site: http://www.fao.org/es/esc/en/15/120/132/events_584.html
