Agro-informatics Tech Talk on Global Agricultural Land Use Mapping, Friday, 29 November, 10:00 – 11:00 CET

Virtual Event, 29/11/2024

Join us on Friday, 29 November, at 10:00 CET for another session of FAO CSI Agro-informatics TechTalks on the “Global Agricultural Land Use Mapping” by Dr. Le Yu, Associate Professor, Department of Earth System Science, Tsinghua University.

This session will focus on the importance of timely and precise monitoring of land cover/use dynamics for optimizing resource allocation, biodiversity preservation, and food security, alongside efforts to combat climate change. Dr. Le Yu will introduce the FROM-GLC Plus v3 (FGP 3.0) framework, an advanced method for near-real-time land change mapping, which integrates multi-source satellite data with ground-based near-surface observations and official data like FAOSTAT, greatly improving monitoring capabilities.
