About the course
Paddy fields are flooded fields used to cultivate rice that represent an important element in the socio-economic and environmental systems of many areas. This self-administered course illustrates the different multi-functional roles of paddy fields, which include, among the others, important regulating services (e.g. mitigation of soil erosion, flood control, conservation of water resources), and socio-economic benefits (e.g. food security, job creation).
The course is composed by 2 modules:
- Module 1: Multi-functionality of paddy fields
- Module 2: Relationships between multi-functional roles and on-farm water management in paddy fields
System requirements
This course can be accessed online without registration. It runs on the latests versions of major broses, such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari.
Audience
The present course targets national professionals and technicians from relevant ministries, research institutes, and national institutions related to water management and rice production.
