E-nugget n. 10 – Integrated Drought Management

The tenth e-nugget of the series organized by the Land and Water Division will illustrate the proactive, coordinated and holistic approach in drought risk management, based on the three key pillars of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD): (i) Early warning and monitoring systems; (ii) Vulnerability and impact assessment; and (iii) Drought risk mitigation measure.
The event will present:
- Definitions and characteristics of drought;
- International and regional aspects;
- The three pillars of the Integrated Drought Managemen;
- Drought policies and plans.
The training will be delivered by Robert Stefanski (World Meteorological Organization) and Katrin Ehlert (Integrated Drought Management Programme), in English with French subtitles.
