E-nugget n. 13 – Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning

The last e-nugget of the series, organized by the Land and Water division, wil focus on Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning. This approach will be presented as a fundamental management function to assess progresses made towards expected results, spot bottlenecks in implementation and highlight any unintended effects derived from an investment plan, program or project and its activities.

The following topics will be presented:

• Introduction to MEL – Definition and concepts of Result-Based Management (RBM) with a focus on natural resources management and agricultural project;
• Project/Programme monitoring – Key principles, reporting indicators, data management and Data Quality Assessment (DQA);
• Project/Programme Impact Evaluation – Key principles, types of design and types of analysis methods;
• MEL processes to support national progresses on sustainable development.

The training will be delivered by Akhter Ali (FAO Land and Water Division), Claudia Casarotto (Innovations for Poverty Actions) and Hafiz Zahid Mahmood (COMSATS University of Pakistan), in English with French subtitles.
