Online administered course n. 7 – Hydro-Economic Modelling

In the framework of the FAO Building Forward Better Initiative, the  Land and Water Division is organizing an online administered course on Hydro-Economic Modelling.

The training will provide a thorough introduction on the approach of hydro-economic modelling, both for watershed and international basins scenarios to illustrate its scopes and benefits. A review of the economics principles at the basis of models will be presented and the different components to be considered for the development of models will be defined. The relevance of modelling will further be demonstrated through the illustration of both technical and policy outputs and the session will conclude with a discussion on the development of the approach and the way forward.

The training will cover the following topics:

  • Economics concepts of HEM;
  • HEM approaches and components;
  • Current trends in HEMs.

The training is organized by FAO in collaboration with the University of Sheffield, University of California (Merced), University of California (Davis), Universitat Politèctica de València, University of Laval, Instituto Rio Grandense do Arroz – IRGA, Zhejiang University, Cornell University, Universitat Politèctica de València, and New Mexico State University.

The training will be provided in English with live interpreting in French.
