Training to assess risk from zoonotic disease threats

A Joint Risk Assessment (JRA) training on priority zoonotic diseases using JRA Operational Tool (JRA OT) was conducted by FAO, USAID and Indonesia's Ministry of Agriculture in East Kalimantan Province from 20 to 23 February 2023. The training, which was based on the recommendations from the One Health Zoonotic Disease Prioritization (OHZDP) workshop in 2021, involved technical staff from the animal health and public health sectors, including the disease investigation centre and the environmental sector at the provincial level. Participants are expected to be able to conduct JRA OT, develop contingency plans, strengthen cross-sectoral collaboration, and provide input to policymakers to determine and implement scientific-based risk control measures and joint communication messaging.
