Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago - The “Grow to Glow” school garden competition was recently launched across Trinidad and Tobago.  The competition runs until March 2023 and is open to all the 4-H clubs. It seeks to promote wider nutrition education for children and eating local produce which runs until March 2023.

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago - To mark this year’s World Food Day, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nation’s (FAO) representation in Trinidad and Tobago hosted a range of activities to build public education and awareness of issues directly aligned to the organization’s corporate mandate by showcasing its past and present initiatives.  This included work on specific measures such as timely and well-targeted social protection policies and programmes to support vulnerable groups. Particularly, highlighting the role of women and youth in agrifood systems, promoting healthy diets and eradicating hunger issues by 2030.

Castries, St. Lucia – The training makes good on the Government of St Lucia’s agreement to ensure that the National School Feeding Program is linked with farmers and food producers who can sustainably provide safe produce. The month-long training sessions explored topics such as low usage of agrochemical inputs, post-harvest handling, food safety, agribusiness management, and marketing linkages. It also afforded the participating farmers the opportunity to design agribusiness ideas, which were launched at last week’s graduation exercise.

Bridgetown, Barbados - Around the Caribbean and Latin America, the need to focus on the full value of water to society is becoming increasingly important, like in the rest of the world, as the resource continues to face supply and demand challenges. Raising awareness on this was a central goal of the ‘’Focus on the Americas’’ sessions at the Stockholm International Water Institute’s World Water Week held in Stockholm, Sweden, from 24 August to 1 September 2022, in a hybrid online/in-person format.
