The FAO Liaison Office with the Russian Federation, together with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Nature and People Fund and the Vostok Discussion Club, held a conference at the UN House in Moscow dedicated to World Wildlife Day which is observed annually on 3 March. The WWD2026 theme was identified as Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: Conserving Health, Heritage and Livelihoods.

On 27 February, in Moscow, the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia hosted Agrocon Alumni – the first business forum for agricultural universities alumni that brings together young professionals, representatives of businesses, academia and public authorities. 

On 10 February, the FAO Liaison Office with the Russian Federation and the FAO depository library in the Russian Federation – the Central Scientific Agricultural Library (CSAL) – jointly with the National Research University ‘Higher School of Economics’ (HSE University) presented the FAO flagship publications in Russian: “The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World” (SOFI 2025) and “The State of the World’s Land and Water Resources for Food and Agriculture 2025” (SOLAW 2025). The event, which brought together leading scientists and experts as well as a large online audience, took place at the HSE University venue.

On 6 February, the Eleventh Mountain Grain Assembly, the leading discussion platform for key players in the Russian grain market, was held in the resort town of Rosa Khutor in the Krasnodar Region. The forum traditionally brought together major agricultural producers, traders, and analysts from most European regions of the country.

Rome – The measure of world food commodity prices declined in January for the fifth consecutive month, led by lower international quotations for dairy, sugar and meat products, according to the benchmark report released Friday by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The 19th Winter Grain Conference, the largest grain forum beyond the Urals, will be held from 25 to 27 February in Belokurikha. Igor Shpakov, Consultant at the FAO Liaison Office with the Russian Federation (Moscow), is one of the standing experts of the conference. He will prepare a presentation on the topic of the “World grain market and global food security: assessment of trends and prospects”.
