The FAO-led EU-STREIT PNG Programme delivered 20,000 Tilapia fingerlings to 927 inland fish farmers, as part of its intervention to improve fish quality and quantity production, higher income generation and enriched dietary nutrition of rural communities in Papua New Guinea. The provision of fingerlings followed the intensive capacity building of fisherfolks and communities in the Sepik region.

EU-STREIT PNG starts road rehabilitation on three farm-to-market access roads to service 46,000 plus cocoa, vanilla, and fisheries farmers in three districts of the Sepik region to access markets.  

EU-STREIT PNG Programme further develops the capacity of government officers and private sector counterparts to mainstream gender perspectives and youth inclusion at the institutional level and in agri-food businesses in the Sepik Region of Papua New Guinea.

EU-STREIT PNG Programme, in collaboration with a rural high school, supports students and surrounding communities with a self-sustaining cocoa business project. 

EU-STREIT PNG, in collaboration with New Guinea Binatang Research Centre, trained and empowered 1233 rural vanilla farmers as well as youths and women in the Sepik region of Papua New Guinea to foster farming households' resilience to climate change impacts. 

The EU Funded UN Joint STREIT Programme Steering Committee’s members highlight the partnership between the UN System, the Government of Papua New Guinea, and the European Union in accelerating the support delivery to target beneficiaries in the Sepik region. 

EU-STREIT PNG Programme enhances the capacity of local farmers and Micro, Small and Medium-Size Enterprises (MSMEs) in ICT applications and financial services to improve agriculture productivity, financial management and marketing for cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability.
