The Regional Fisheries Livelihoods Programme (RFLP) supported the establishment of a multi-agency technical committee which drafted a national plan for the safety of fishers and fishing vessels at sea for Sri Lanka. The national plan presented in this document was approved by the government.

This report details the methodology used and results obtained from RFLP support to pilot a second year of community-based inshore fisheries catch monitoring in Cambodia.

 The context, strategy, and process followed by the RFLP to improve access by fisher communities around Negombo, Chilaw and Puttalam lagoons in Sri Lanka to micro-finance services (including savings, credit and insurance) is detailed. Lessons learned, unexpected benefits, results and recommendations are given for an innovative initiative, which the Minister for Fisheries has requested be replicated nationwide.
