Bioenergy is recognized as an integral component in a low carbon global energy system. According to the IEA roadmap released in 2021, by 2050, bioenergy will need to supply 102 EJ of energy to meet net zero targets, up from 63 EJ in 2020; more specifically, the supply of advanced biofuels will need to reach 62 times its 2020 level. This requires transformative, coordinated action from all sections of society. GBEP is working in collaboration with Biofuture Platform and Biofuture Campaign, IEA Bioenergy, IRENA and IEA, among others, to share knowledge between stakeholders and create
platforms for discussion among actors.
This webinar will showcase experiences from across the world in the development and production of advanced liquid biofuels. The webinar will take a roundtable, interactive format, with the guiding theme being private sector perspectives on policies for advanced biofuels for net zero transport targets.
The webinar is hosted by the Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP) as part of the Scope of Work of
Activity Group 8, under the thematic area of ‘Advanced Liquid Biofuels’.
