Access to lake:No direct access. The office compound is situated 0.25 km from the lakeshore; access to the lake is via Uvira harbour.
Facilities:Large 52 room, three story facility recently renovated by the Lake Tanganyika Biodiversity Project (LTBP) includes offices, dry & wet laboratories, library, museum, conference and computer rooms.
Equipment:HF and VHF communication equipment, computers & other office equipment and furniture, scientific/laboratory equipment and material required to carry out investigation/analyses in limnology, water chemistry, zooplankton and fish biology.
Vehicles/boats:Suzuki 4WD JIMMY, and LTBP-supplied 22ft fibreglass workboat with 40 HP engine and 25 HP support engine.
 
NOTES:

* this facility now houses the D.R. of Congo's research station which is part of the Lake Tanganyika Fisheries Monitoring Programme (LTFMP) and is shared with the Lake Tanganyika Biodiversity Project (LTBP).
